A Life Rooted in Faith, Thought, and Service
Prof. George Augustin is the founding director of the Cardinal Walter Kasper Institute for Theology, Ecumenism, and Spirituality at the Philosophical-Theological University of Vallendar. The university, attractively located on the Rhine near Koblenz, is run by the Pallottines, the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, where he also teaches as a professor of dogmatics and fundamental theology.
George Augustin comes from the Catholic region of Kerala, India. As a teenager, he decided to begin his formation with the Indian Pallottines with a clear desire — to live as a missionary.
This desire led him from working among the Adivasi, the indigenous people of India, to Germany, where he now serves as a pastoral priest, university professor, and author of numerous publications translated into many languages.

His academic work is grounded in lived faith, drawing from Scripture, tradition, and the pastoral realities of the modern world.
Pastoral Ministry and Service to the Church
Alongside his scholarly contributions, Fr. Augustin serves as Priest Chaplain of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, accompanying clergy through formation, reflection, and spiritual care. His ministry reflects a conviction that theology is not abstract knowledge, but a path that shapes conscience, mission, and service.
